Joe is a professional interventionist, recovery coach, and family coach. His foray into the recovery field began in 1982 with his own recovery from teenage alcoholism.

He performed his first intervention in 1983. He is a board certified intervention professional (CIP). Joe also helps lead a recovery ministry at Mariners Church. Mariners Church is a mega-church located in Orange County, CA.

Having been raised in a family with a history of substance abuse, Joe is intimately familiar with the struggles which families face when trying to cope with the consequences of an addicted loved one.

Joe is particularly gifted with helping the families of young males suffering from substance use disorder and other behavioral issues.
